Summit City Farms is approaching 100 years of producing premium fruit and vegetables. Founded in 1922 by Italian immigrants Gaetano DeEugenio and his wife Pasqueta, the farm started with the acquisition of 7.5 acres on University Boulevard in the Ridge section of Glassboro, NJ. Apples, asparagus, grape, mushrooms, and peaches were among the early crops.
Gaetano’s three sons, Anthony, Joseph, and Lewis Sr., expanded the farm to 150 acres in the 1950’s. In 1967, the name Summit City Farms was added. In the late 1990’s, Anthony retired with Lewis Jr. assuming his share of the farm. Under the ownership of Lewis Sr and Lewis Jr and their wives, Alyse and Leila, the farm expanded to approximately 500 acres. Today, Summit City Farms grows more than 25 varieties of peaches, nectarines, and apples and has an active equestrian facility. The more than 500 acres of working farmland at Summit City Farms allows for the production of premium fruit for retail and wholesale distribution.
In 2014 a winery and tasting room were added. Over the years we have continued to follow our passion and now offer over 30 varieties of wine – fruit, red, white, sweet, and table wines made with fruit predominately harvested at Summit City Farms in and around Glassboro and from other quality sources. Our fruit wines include apple, cherry, yellow peach, white peach, and others. Our grape wine selections include American Cabernet Sauvignon, American Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and Summit Red.
The Tasting Room is not only a space to enjoy our wines, but we hope to help the community come together and enjoy each other’s company in a comfortable and friendly environment which displays unique local antiques and memorabilia. In pursuit of this goal, we host music and wine events most weekends during the month, as well as provide space for private parties. For more information please visit our website.
Summit City Wines are also sold in local storefronts and restaurants in NJ.
